Ranger Construction Repairs Plant Damage After Emergency Road Work
(1st/2nd Quarter 2005)

Repairs are made to Ranger Central’s Ft. Pierce, FL, asphalt plant, which suffered panel damage during last year’s hurricanes.

There’s never a great time to shut down a busy asphalt plant for repairs. But when it’s hurricane wind damage and another season is approaching, you do it anyway.

Last year’s hurricanes damaged the outer panels on the storage silos and mixing drum at Ranger Construction’s Fort Pierce, FL, plant. But busy production schedules — including miles of emergency road repairs on Indian River Drive in St. Lucie County (shown below) and other roadways — prevented complete plant repairs until earlier this year.

“We had to shut down for two weeks to finish,” said Vice President Bob Schafer. “You hate to lose production, but we also took care of a few other items to make the most of the down time.”

Now that the repairs are finished, the plant is back to its usual busy production schedule.

destroyed the shoreline and shoulder and washed out
entire sections of roadway. Repairs included
placing boulders called “rip-rap” along the slope.

Ranger Golf is constructing two new golf courses and performing major improvements at a third, all in Southern California.

The two new courses are located in Corona. Dos Lagos is an 18-hole course for Temescal Canyon Properties-8. Designed by Matt Dye, Dos Lagos will play at about 7,000 yards and is scheduled for completion this summer.

Ranger is also nearing completion on The Retreat, an 18-hole course by Jack Nicklaus Design.

At Rams Hill Country Club in Borrego Springs, northeast of San Diego, CA, Ranger is part of a major reconstruction project to expand the existing 27 holes to 36. Ranger’s portion involves the demolition and complete reconstruction of nine existing holes, along with new construction of nine additional holes.
